Charlotte, NC - June 4, 2010 :
Staffing firm Sherpa and NewDominion Bank are vying to see which company’s employees can go the farthest in reducing their carbon footprint this summer.
Clean Air Works! — a program of the Regional Air Quality Board — will award points to each firm for clean commuting: biking, walking, public transportation or carpooling. Employees can boost their company’s score through other environmentally friendly gestures, such as grocery shopping with reusable bags.
Says NewDominion Chief Executive Bradley Thompson: “I have full confidence our NewDominion Bank team will be enjoying a free lunch in September, compliments of our competitors!”
Sherpa takes a more convivial tone. “Sherpa works diligently to make sure that employees are knowledgeable about air pollution, its adverse health effects and its potential effect on the business climate of the region,” says Missy McDonald, group manager of the firm’s accounting and financial division. “We are excited about this competition as a way to energize our efforts for clean air.”
